MiBM in the North Natomas Community

Yet again, North Natomas excitedly saddled up to log miles towards the May is Bike Month campaign. The Club at Natomas Park team logged a total of 3,006 miles to add to the tally, while the team from the California Department of Consumer Affairs rode 4,698 miles towards the goal. The Natomas Unified School District faculty and staff got in on the action with a total of 2,147 miles in the saddle. In total, North Natomas residents and employees rode 47,735 miles in the month of May.

To kick the month off, the NNTMA organized the Know Your Bike Trail Celebration event. During the event, hundreds of people walked, rode, scooted and skated up and down the East Levee Drainage Canal Bike Trail. Local businesses and organizations set up shop along the trail to root on the participants and showcase their business. Also during this event, participants voted on an official name for this recently completed trail.

There’s much more to May is Bike Month than just logging miles. Bike Doc repaired a total of 123 bikes free of charge at events throughout the community. On an early Friday morning, our breakfast stop lured 38 riders on Bike to Work Day. In addition, our partnership with Bella Bru enticed people with tasty treats and free bike valet on Shop, Bike, Dine Day. Meanwhile, in cyberspace, our #31ReasonstoBike series encouraged and empowered our social media followers with the many positive benefits of riding a bicycle.
